inaugural speech

Heres my version of the inaugural speech…

After a long fought out election we have come together. And here we stand united, brought together in this historic event that shall never be forgotten by anyone, black nor white. Tomorrow begins day one in my time as president. At the dawn of tomorrow our long thought out hopes for the future of this country will finally be put into action. We must become the difference we seek to find in this country.  We need not only to be willing to accept the oncoming change, but be willing to cooperate with it, because America, we need to once more stand together, black, white, Latino, Asian, we need to stand together as one united states and raise the standards of our nation. Only then America, can we prosper.

I aim to find the day when people in all parts of this world can see our nation’s flag and see us at our full potential. Not as their enemies, but as their neighbors. We need to rebuild this global reputation that has been irresponsibly destroyed. America, drastic times call for drastic measures, and they shall be taken. There will be no taking the easy way out because all too often the hardest thing and the right thing are the same. I confess now that it won’t be easy, but I ask you America to stand with me here and now and follow me into the future of our country and together we will pick up the pieces of a broken nation. Divided we are nothing, but united we will accomplish more than our founding fathers could have dreamed of for the nation they devoted their lives to.

My pets

My pets are a big part of my family- there are more animals than people. I have three cats, a dog, two goats, and a coop of chickens. These animals  mean more to me than just a barn of livestock, they are just like any other pet. They are not raised to be eaten, in fact our two goats were both rescues and I have no intention of finding out what goat tastes like. They are pygmy goats, therefore they can’t be milked. We do, however, eat our chicken’s eggs. We only have hens, no roosters. The goats and chickens spend most of their time in the barn lately, because of the cold weather. In warmer weather, they have a fenced in area to wander around in, but a lot of the time, we let them out in the yard. They never seem to stray off our property, but when they have been out for a while, they are difficult about going back in their pasture. When this happens we let the dog chase them back in. Our dog is a mix of many different breeds. We rescued her about two years ago, from a lady who fosters dogs. My opinion is that no purebred dog makes a better companion than a mutt.

Over this past summer, we took in five puppies who didn’t have a mother. It was one of the hardest jobs to do while home alone for 7 hours. Waking up at 6:00 and going to bed at 12:00 over the summer isn’t what I had in mind for my vacation, but it was worth it. The puppies needed as much attention as any human baby, and if they didn’t get it they would cry just as much as any human baby. My dog helped a lot in all of this. She took over as their mother, cleaning them, keeping track of them, and making sure they were safe when I wasn’t looking. By the time they were ready for adoption, they were 3x bigger than they had been when they arrived and they were very spoiled. It was so much hard work, but honestly, I miss them a little. Now they are all adopted and my dog has gone back to being a farm mutt.

As for our three cats, they wander around as they please. We have an old grey cat who spends more of his time in the barn than in the house. he has actually turned out to be a big help, because he keeps raccoons out of the chicken feed, and foxes away from the chickens.

What is the most powerful thing you can say to someone?

I think the most powerful thing you can ever say to anyone is to tell them the complete, utter truth.  This is not always a big deal for  some people, but honesty can be a challenge for others. People find it much easier to hide behind lies than to tell the truth and face the proceeding consequences, whether good or bad.  The truth can be hard to confess to someone, but it’s the only way to earn trust, gain respect, and keep  a clean, peaceful conscience.

“Be the change you wish to see in te world”

Before anyone can change the world, they first have to change themselves.  In order  to effect other people, one first has to be considerate of their opinions and make an attempt to relate to them. You have to be a selfless person, and always think of what is best for your community and the people in it. It doesn’t take a lot to make a difference in the lives of others and change the world, but before one can hope to achieve such a thing, the first have to put themselves second to society.

Hartford hails a devastating death

Mayor Mike Peters of Hartford has died at age 60 after experiencing problems with a damaged liver and kidney failure. Peters served nine years as mayor and supported his city as a longtime firefighter. Peters planned to run for mayor once more in 2011 with the condition that his health improved. The current mayor of Hartford has proposed that engine 15 of the firehouse Peters worked at was to be named after him. The funeral is scheduled to be held on Thursday at St. Augustine church, Hartford.

the environmental blog

http://www.theenvironmentalblog.org/

Recently i visited The Environmental Blog. This is a blog about global environmental health.  The blog covers everything from parents concerned about pesticides at school, to gas prices. The blog is professionally written with long posts and pictures. My favorite post was titled ‘Legacy of a Green Thumb.’ It was a very long post about a how a boy learned from his grandfather how to love the planet and appreciate what it gives us. The boy has now grown up and is the writer of the blog. He talks about the actions he takes to bring out the best in the environment of his community in hopes that his actions will get bigger and have the most positive effect on the planet as possible.

i left the following comment:

We’re on the right track so far. Since the discovery of how to harness solar energy and wind energy we have continued to grow and develope more ways to be eco friendly. I think, givin more time, we will be able to put a stop to our habit of polluting. As you have said changing our lifestyles might not be enough, but even if its all we can do we might as well do it.

up or down?

Who decided which way was up? if the planets a sphere then there is no top or bottom, but people have decided that the north pole it the uppermost part of the planet. What if we were a part of a whole? The whole universe could exist inside of something bigger than us. Theres no way to find out. Maybe by the year 3000 they will be able to answer these questions, but to answer the first few i did a little research.

When i thought about this and looked into it, I found out some unconvincing information. As for now, this is what we rely on:

At a time, England was the most powerful country in the world. England is on what we call the northern hemishpere. No coincidence here, the English decided that there half of the world was on top because they were afraid that if they declared themselves on the bottom, the people of the country would be concerned that they might fall off. I guess they  didnt understand the force of gravity. For those of you who live in england you dont have to worry about falling into nothingness if you travel to Antarctic, i promise.

our era

Over the Thanksgiving vacation, i talked to members of my family about their childhood. It made me realize that im glad i was born in this era and not in theirs. Students my age get to have technology in their classrooms. If we were growing up in the era off my grandparents, we wouldnt be able to make these blogs and collaborate with people around the world. Also, if we were students back then we wouldnt be able to go on as many field trips. Our whole school expirience would be different.
