a man is walking across a bridge
he has three pieces of gold
the bridge can only handle 119pounds
he weighs 118…
each piece of gold weighs two pounds…
so, how does he cross the bridge with all of his gold?
sometimes
life gives us more than we think we can handle
so we have to learn
to take it all one thing at a time
-we have to learn to JUGGLE….-
Strength.
How do we measure strength?
there is physical strength, and there is emotional strength. which is more important?
how do you know if you are strong? i believe there is no way of knowing until that moment when you are put to the test. everyone comes across a moment like this. some come across several.
at times like these, we get pushed until we exceed our limit.
and then you have a battle between mind and heart, what you want to do and what must be done.
in the middle of the battle, we are unstable, we often make the wrong choice, and cant see the result until its too late…
someone told me that “sometimes strength is not demonstrated by going it alone, but by finding someone to help.”
this made me think.
i thought, and i considered.
and maybe, if others would also consider, then they would see that while we are caught in a sticky situation second guessing ourselves, it is better to have the counseling of a friend, family member, or teacher to straighten our minds out while we are unable to do so ourselves, than to make an easy choice and await an uncertain conclusion.
and then i thought some more….
and i realized, that it takes a whole lot more strength to see that you need help and go get it than it does to detach yourself from the people who are in your life and go it alone.
Maybe lifes unfair, but its not cruel, we all have someone to lean on.
and thats all we need.
Actions or intentions
Are people defined by their actions or intentions?
After 45 minutes of thought and discussion on this question, i am still unable to draw a conclusion.
I have more than one opinion on the topic but most seem to be blunt and go in circles.
But one important point that has to be made is this….
No matter what intentions a person has, they are always going to be seen with their actions. Once a person does something it is inescapable, permanent. Their actions shadow them forever, and so others see them as one. But what other people cannot see are their intentions. Intentions are hidden deep inside a persons mind. They are all too often misunderstood.
People today are far too quick to judge. They judge by what they see, and do not take the time to look past that.
If someone were to see someone who has acted poorly and done wrong but can still see past that and realize that all along they had only good intentions then they have taken the time to walk around a while in the other persons shoes. They have taken the time to have sympathy. The people who do this are the only ones who really have the right to judge at all. They are the only ones who have a full understanding of what has really happened. These people are not too quick to judge. Other people are blind to the situation.
However, if someone were to have sympathy for someone who was viewed by a greater audience as a criminal, they too would be judged.
Though the right thing to do would probably be to take a moment to look past the actions of a person and seek out their intentions, there are few who would take the time to do this.
And so the closest thing to a conclusion i can give is whether it is right or wrong, people are often judged by their actions.
A wonderful place
There are plenty of places i enjoy being. Places where im comfortable, happy, and content with my environment. However, i dont think it is the place i am in that makes me feel this way. I believe its who im with. If im with my best friend im going to be happy no matter where we are. If im by myself, ill probably get lonely eventually no matter were i am. Emotions seem to be contagious, so if i was with a horribly depressed person, id likely find it hard to be happy no matter where i was. I believe it is human nature that a person can go anywhere and do anything and be perfectly happy as long as they have a good friend or companion.
Random acts of kindness
To me, a random act of kindness is doing the right thing when it needs to be done. Helping a stranger, being there for a friend, being considerate of your family’s requests. A random act of kindness is a spontanious way of showing you care to the people around you. Not only that, but when a random act of kindness is shown, theres a chance that one persons good intentions can rub off on another and maybe inspire them to act out on their own.
My Social Studies Class
Most people dont have much to look forward to when they go to school. But i find that on the days i have Social Studies class school seems a little…better. Its the most unique class i’ve ever been in and of course thats all because of the wild, abstract, mind of my teacher, Mr.Bogush. When you walk into his classroom you can almost always expect something new. It never gets boring in there.
On the first day of his class he told us so many times that one of his goals was to make us think outside of the box. I think sometimes my class stumps him, because so many of us cannot function without specific direction, which we dont get because he wants us to be creative with our projects. He has said he hasnt figured us out completely, but i dont think all of us have figured him out either. It seems like there are some students that still try to treat his class like all the others, but in order to succeed in his class you have to go above and beyond and aim higher than any other teachers told you you could. Thats exactly what students need to become successful in the future.
We dont get written tests, but i think that everyday we are being tested on the things we can accomplish, and how far outside our ‘boxes’ we can break. Of course there is social studies involved as well. We learn a lot about different topics without even noticing, because we never get lectures on topics, and we never sit in class and do book work (unless its for punishment).
Mr. Bogush teaches a phenominal class. I’d bet on it that theres no other class like his. The year is only half over and he has taught me so much. Not just about social studies, but more important things too. I dont think he gets enough credit for what he does, but he seems like he enjoys it, and I know i enjoy learning from him.
Cable Switch
By now you’ve all heard of the cable switch to digital. I was confused about it at first so i researched i and found these reasons why the government decided to switch…
Going all-digital will free up parts of the airwaves for future innovative services by entrepreneurs. TV stations can also improve their services with enhanced closed captioning, better pictures and sound, and offer several channels of programming at the same time, known as “multicasting.”
Those are okay reasons, but are they worth the millions that the government is spending to help people switch? Not to mention the 2million dollars they spent on advertising the switch. WIth such an unstable economy, and a war going on, dont we have much more important things to spend money on? I guess here in America television really is a priority.
A bedtime story
Ive noticed recently that most of my best ideas come to me late at night when im supposed to be sleeping. At least once a week im interrupted from sleeping because ive just woken up and thought of something and I HAVE to get up and write it down. Usually its just a random thought, something that will help me write an essay for school or a blog, a song im writing, etc. in my opinion no good idea should be forgotten or go unheard, so with that in mind, I keep a pen and noebook next to my bed. if my computers on, and i think of an idea for something im working on, i get up and type it but i usually have trouble because i cant see. someone should invite light-up keyboards.
anyways…
The lack of sleep isnt great, but sleep seems like a waste of time anyways. We sleep for about 8 hours a day, that’s a huge chunck of time. I wonder what it would be like to go a few nights without sleeping. I bet that notebook next to my bed would be empty.
Lets have a show!
Well the other day I had a random thought…
And I was wondering, how come our school doesn’t have a talent show?? Most other schools do. And they are so fun! It gives a chance for students outside of band, chorus, and drama to show their school what they are capable of. The school wouldn’t have to spend any money on props like they do for plays, and im sure the show would be great.
How many of you would be willing to participate? What would you do in the show?
Comments please=]
My reactions to the inauguration
The ceremony to me was very unique. Obama’s emotions weren’t as controlled as they typically are. For the first time, Obama seemed nervous. Not because of the huge crown standing before him, but because of the challenges he was yet to encounter. He was well aware that he was accepting perhaps the most stressful job in the world, and the pressure was about to be on. However it seemed as though he was positive he was ready. In fact, I’d be concerned if he wasn’t at least a little nervous. To me it proves that he understands the excruciating impact every choice he makes will have on the country, or perhaps the world. It proves that he will not only repair a broken country, but reshape it, raise its standards, and pull it together.
